Break it after you buy it

One of the first things that Jeremiah did after he bought his LMTV was "break it". Shocking right? Not really though, after he purchased the truck one of the most important things he had to do was take it from a military vehicle and turn that puppy into a civilian dream machine.

Of the things that Jeremiah had to remove the most fun for everyone involved was removing the gunner turret ring, we kept the third seat inside the cab though. You just never know when someone might need a lift, and sometimes the navigator (i.e. me) needs a better view. Originally the turret ring was used during combat and habitually came equipped with a 7.62mm M240 Machine Gun or a . 50 cal M2HB HMG, this was also common in the rear weapons station.

So in January of '18 the boys got to work with nothing but some hand tools and elbow grease, and of course a bit of playtime; such as pictured above with Doug dreaming of making silly post-apocalyptic vehicles from scrap.

Jeremiah, Doug and other friends spent the next couple of months+ removing all kinds of odds and ends from the truck. Most notable were the bed of the truck, the internal gun mounts in the cab and as previously stated the turret.

Before the brains behind this endeavor took the bed off the truck and installed that dope 10x10 aluminum box he made sure to get some tantalizing posed stock photos. Much truck. So sexy. Very wow.

To be honest, years into the build and we are still removing bits and bobs as we find that we don't need them. It's hard to keep track of everything that's been removed and/or replaced. This is definitely a labor of love, one that I am excited to continue chronicling for those of you interested in the process.
